2; telephone costs ; temporarily stop your mobile phone subscription if this is possible with your provider. It would be a shame if these costs are incurred. Do not use your Dutch number on the island because you can connect to wifi almost everywhere on the island. If you want to call/text you can arrange this with a temporary Curacao number.

3, Charge for your room / apartment ; you live by yourself? Make sure there is a temporary resident entering your room / apartment. In this way, your rental costs are covered in the Netherlands. (for example, rent your room via groups on Facebook)

4; Student living away from home ; when you before September 1, 2015 started with a college undergraduate study than the new regulations for the new feudal system doesn’t  applies . So you keep your basic grant for the bachelor. When you are not living at home you should not forget to turn your student loan  from living at home to living away from home. Your basic grant will go from € 81.81 to € 266.99!

5; Fairs ; Sometimes you will be eligible for certain grants. Always check www.wilweg.nl – click ‘financing’ – then ‘exhibition opener. Here you filter search results for “student”; ‘internship’; “curaçao” and see possible exchanges that appear on your screen. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

6, Part time job in Curacao ; Doing an Internship and still have some energy left to work a few hours a week? Especially in the hospitality industry in Curaçao are opportunities. It is best to go along on location in this way they have an immediate clear picture of you.

7; Expensive things to share with fellow students ; such as your car which average € 400, – costs per month, but a car in Curacao is really a must.If you rent a car with several people  you  will save an  considerably amount on rent, parking fees and petrol. (although gasoline in Curacao is not expensive)

8; Save ; perhaps the most important advice. Create a financial plan for yourself to set aside money each month for Curaçao. Calculate how much money you want to leave and how much your monthly receives. With an ultimate goal saving is clearer and easier because you know exactly where you are working toward.

9; Live smart ; eat together and share the cost of groceries, make use of the daily happy hours and eat local. This is not only very tasty but also very nice. This way you learn the true culture of the island.

10; collect Stuff ; a way that does not go very fast, but every little bit helps. Examples for the collection of items that generate money are returnable bottles, scrap metal, empty cartridges and old cell phone calls.

11; Sell Stuff ; Initially, of course, your own stuff, like clothes you no longer wear. If this is not sufficient then you can always ask friends or acquaintances they have stuff you can sell them for example via marketplace. So you help them on the crowded attic and you yourself like a nice pocket money for Curaçao on.
