History

The Veeris family, after whom the plantation and the present mansion are named, is the first known owner of the Three Brothers and Westerveld plantations. In the second decade of the 19th century, these plantations merged with plantation Eendracht to form plantation Union. Eventually this plantation, which was 108 hectares in size, was named Veeris after its first owners. It is not clear on which plantation the mansion that now bears the name Veeris stood. Landhuis Veeris is located west of the Weg naar Westpunt at the level and between the former Morgenster and Raphael plantations. The plantation complex consists of the manor house, an outbuilding with cistern, a magasina, a toilet/shower building and corrals.
