Curacao Should Invest In All Markets
WILLEMSTAD – According to Miles Mercera, CEO of the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA), Curaçao must not choose between Europe and U.S.A. but focus more on both markets. There were reports about a debate within his organization about this topic but Mercera indicated not to be aware of this.
The reports indicated that within CHATA there are members who believe that Curaçao has to focus more and invest in the North American market, while others believe that Europe should be the main market for the island.
Mercera denies that and says that Chata’s policy is simple: “We think we need to focus on all markets where we have a direct connection. We should not do that randomly but focus on places where there is airlift, so in the case of the United States, that is Florida and New York. And in Europe, there are the Netherlands and Germany.
