Unsubscribe from BRP on departure from the Netherlands
You must unsubscribe from the BRP if you expect to stay abroad for at least 8 months in any 12 month period. This period of 8 months does not have to be contiguous.
Also, if you hold your home in the Netherlands, you need to unsubscribe if you are staying for longer periods abroad.
You can from 5 days before your departure unsubscribe from the municipality where you live at that time. You can do this in person or in writing. It is common that when you unsubscribe, the church on your request issue a certificate of deregistration. This evidence can be used when canceling subscriptions or for signing up abroad. Proof of deregistration can be received only at the time of enrollment. It is therefore important to preserve this.
If you live abroad and you have no proof of deregistration? You can request an extract from the international BRP instead. This excerpt is under more that you are non-resident and the time of departure from the Netherlands.
