Investors Permit
introduction
Since October 1, 2014 there is an attractive scheme for foreign wealthy investors who want to stay for a certain period in Curacao, the so-called Investors Permit 2014. These arrangements provide, under certain conditions the possibility for investors to receive a temporary residence permit in Curaçao. The old scheme from August 2009 was thus allayed. Hereafter the main features of the Investors Permit from 2014 will be treated as well as the changes from the old system.
Conditions
To receive an (temporary) residence permit several conditions must be fulfilled. Thus, the investor should be durable and self-sufficient to be able to fulfill the obligations arising from the investment. The investor must prove with official documents that he / she has made a business investment or intends to do so. The residence also has the obligation, to be adequately insured against sickness costs, including the costs of recording and treatment in a sanatorium or a psychiatric institution. In certain cases there should also be paid a deposit.
At certain times an interim examination will take place to check if all the conditions of the permit are still met. In certain situations, the permit (temporary) residence may be refused or withdrawn. The validity of the residence permit depends on the height of the amount invested, with the following three categories .
Category 1
When a business investment from NAF 500,000 issued the residence permit is valid for a period of three years. A temporary residence permit is renewed for a similar period at unchanged conditions. When the renewal requirements are not met in time the license will invalidate.
Category 2
When a business investment from NAF 750,000 issued the residence permit is valid for a period of five years. Residence temporary residence permit is renewed for a similar period at unchanged conditions. When not in time to meet the renewal requirements will invalidate the license.
Category 3
When a business investment from NAF 1,500,000 is issued a residence permit is valid for an indefinite period.
For the handling of requests to pay a temporary residence permit, fees and charges are appliable. Full applications submitted should be decided within two weeks.
Family reunification and family
The family members may under certain conditions also be eligible for a temporary residence permit if the main applicant a permit (temporary) residence as “investor” was issued. When does the license of the main applicant also invalidate the residence permit of the dependents. Upon dissolution of the marriage partner must submit an amendment to the license.

Changes compared with the old scheme
In establishing the new Investors Permit 2014, the old regime in 2009 largely adopted the shovel. The main changes are:
In the old scheme as a condition a business investment or set a property purchase of NAF 650,000. For this investment, the investor would have been granted a temporary residence permit for one year, which was automatically renewed subject to compliance with the other requirements. This criterion has been replaced in the Investors Permit in 2014 by the three categories described above.
In the new scheme, the condition dilapidated that the investor can stay in Curacao up to 120 days per year.
Moreover, the condition that the investor annually 50,000 NAF should contribute lapse at the Crime Prevention Fund.
